Community Groups

Community Groups are where you’ll experience real life with friends and family. We have groups meeting all through the week for singles, families, and seniors.

What is a Community Group?

A Community Group is a gospel-centered family who lives on mission together.

Gospel-Centered - The gospel is the tie that binds us together. We aren’t connected by our hobbies or interests, but by the work of God in Christ as revealed in the Bible.

Family - We function less like a class or Bible study and more like a family, both in relationships and rhythms.

On Mission - We are sent together as Kingdom ambassadors to minister to the lost and the needy. Each group engages in mission projects together.

Together - We are regularly involved in each other’s lives, and we consistently live out Jesus’ mission as a function of that life together, rather than alone.

We’re all in on community

At Calvary, we long to see believers grow into the image and likeness of Christ. We believe one way God accomplishes this is through missional community: living life together and challenging one another to grow as disciples of Christ. We desire to be a church where meaningful relationships are formed, in the spirit of Acts 2:42–47.

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. (Acts 2:42–47)

We believe the gospel is best applied and practiced in community. The ministry of our church flows through home-based fellowship. These “Community Groups” meet weekly to eat, worship, pray, and study God’s Word together. Each group revisits the previous Sunday's sermon with a focus on application. Each meeting includes a time for accountability. These groups operate as the driving force of the church’s ministry in which believers can practice their spiritual gifts, serve one another, and engage in outreach together.
